Inspiration for Haiku
“Starry Starry Night” came about because I was on the lookout for meteors from the Perseids Meteor Shower. I saw 6 meteors between about midnight and 1 AM. Since they were appearing at various points in the sky and were unpredictable, I ended up taking shots of Vega and looking into the Milky Way. That is what inspired this haiku.
Starry Starry Night
Starry starry night.
Worlds away, my heart takes flight,
Soaring at the sight.

I feel so spoiled, because Ian and I saw several dozen meteors on Wednesday night, between 3:30 and 4:15am. We live an hour from the city, and 20 minutes from the nearest small town, so we get the full benefit of the stars on a clear night. It’s so quiet and beautiful here!

Willena, you are spoiled lol!
I got to see 6 between Thursday evening and Friday morning. Not nearly as spectacular as your viewing. We will just be grateful for the experience!

Phew! great images Debby. Starry Nights, I could settle for that every night. Thank you. It felt like a breath of fresh air. It felt present.
Thank you.
